At a time when the COVID-19 pandemic across the world has grounded airlines and brought air travel to a grinding halt, the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad is leaving no stone unturned to prepare itself for ensuring the safety of passengers whenever commercial flight operations resume.
The Ahmedabad airport authorities posted several pictures on social media to let passengers know how they intend to maintain social distancing when flight services resume in the country.

Notably, the authorities have demarcated the airport’s entrances, as well as security check areas, to ensure proper gap between two passengers while waiting in the queue. Also, chairs in the waiting area have been arranged in such a way that passengers can abide by the social distancing norms of the government.
This apart, every alternate chair has been marked with an ‘X’ which signifies that it is not meant for sitting to maintain the gap between two passengers.
Meanwhile, the Centre has already clarified that airlines should not restart bookings until the government clears air travel. Notably, prohibition on air travel has been imposed until May 3 and is likely to be extended as hundreds of fresh COVID-19 cases are being reported in the country on a daily basis.
