New Delhi : The Congress, led by its Delhi unit president Ajay Maken, on Monday held a demonstration at the Election Commission office to protest against delay in announcing Assembly poll dates in Gujarat.





A delegation submitted a memorandum to point out this delay was giving an advantage to the ruling BJP in power at both the Centre and the states to announce poll sops to influence the voters.

Urging the EC to immediately announce the Gujarat elections to stop Prime Minister Modi and others declaring more sops, the memorandum pointed out that the elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh were held on different dates in 2012 but their announcement was made simultaneously. to clamp the model code of conduct.
