Schools told to block access to harmful sites

Hyderabad: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has directed the officials of its affiliated schools to ensure that the students do not access to websites and mobile apps relating to harmful games like Blue Whale.

Such games, the CBSE circular has said, will stunt the mental growth of schoolgoing students. The CBSE guidelines unequivocally directed the officials to see the students in the school do access only pre-selected websites appropriate to their age. It asked the officials the schools to deploy ‘digital surveillance system’ on their campuses to prevent student from accessing harmful websites and mobile apps.

The CBSE officials pointed out that the children, if allowed to access internet without safety mode, may fall prey to harmful activities or suffer cyberbullying. The officials stressed the need to educate students on safety rules in using internet.
