Ongole: With the help of NRIs, Prakasam district would become the first district in the state to have at least one digital classroom in all high schools by this month end.

The special representative of Government of Andhra Pradesh in North America, Komati Jayaram said that about 325 high schools in the district would be provided digital classrooms in the district.

Komati Jayaram and District Collector V Vinay Chand inaugurated one digital classroom at the Zilla Parishad High School at Basavannapalem in Prakasam district on Wednesday. The digital classroom is equipped in the school with the partnership of NRI from the village Kakarla Rajanikanth.

Collector Vinay Chand, said, “Rajanikanth, Jayaram and many others are studied in the schools where there are no infrastructure but have excelled in the career and helping the government to provide digital classrooms in their respective villages.

The digital classrooms help the students to learn quickly with the integrated audiovisual platform. The Chief Minister wants that all schools in the district have digital classrooms and we will work according to him. We request the children and their parents to best utilise the facilities and infrastructure being provided in the government schools for free of cost.”

Speaking to The Hans India, Komati Jayaram said, “The AP Janmabhoomi is the platform crated for the NRIs with the help of the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

Here, the NRIs can donate about USD 750 as their contribution to set up a digital classroom or USD 5,000 to partner in the construction of an own building for the Anganwadi centres. All these contributions to the AP Janmabhoomi are tax free in the US and the mechanism here is completely taking responsibility of spending the funds more transparently.

District education officer B Vijay Bhaskar, said, “Each digital classroom would cost around Rs 1.5 lakh and already 57 schools got them now. Collector Vinay Chand and Jayaram Komati already discussed to provide digital classrooms in the 266 high schools immediately.

The Collector has sanctioned the funds for digital classrooms in 161 schools now. We are confident that all government high schools in the district will be provided digital classrooms by this month end and will make sure all government schools get the digital classrooms in few months to make the Prakasam district as the first district in the state to do it.”
